1. When a second opinion is appropriate
Recommended for: planned major surgery (hysterectomy, ovarian surgery, deep infiltrating endometriosis excision); failed prior endometriosis surgery with recurrent symptoms; recurrent IVF failure (2 or more cycles); conflicting recommendations between specialists; severe pain not controlled by current treatment; diagnostic uncertainty after initial workup; cases where current team recommends interventions you wish to evaluate independently.
2. What a second opinion will and will not do
Will: review all imaging and records independently, provide an evidence-based written assessment, suggest alternative approaches with rationale, identify gaps in current workup. Will not: criticise your current team unnecessarily; pressure you to switch centres; provide cosmetic reassurance against your own judgement; offer guaranteed outcomes.
3. What to bring or send
All prior pelvic ultrasounds and MRI reports (with images on CD or digital). Previous operation notes and histology reports. Current medication list and prior medical management trial. Recent hormonal results (TSH, prolactin, AMH where relevant). Partner semen analysis if fertility-related. Symptom history and quality-of-life impact summary. Current treatment plan and stated concerns.
4. Consultation format options

5. Timeline

6. Fee structure
