Will my current clinician be upset if I seek a second opinion?
Most clinicians welcome second opinions. A polite request for your reports and images is generally respected, and seeking another view is a normal part of informed decision-making.
Do I need to bring the original imaging?
Yes. Bring the original ultrasound or MRI images (on a CD or cloud link) if possible, not just the report. The report is one clinician’s interpretation, and the second-opinion specialist may read the images differently.
How long should I wait before making a final decision after the second opinion?
Long enough to compare both opinions thoughtfully but short enough that the decision is still in front of you. For most elective gynaecological decisions, a few days to two weeks is reasonable.
