Our IVF Laboratory — ART Level 2 Embryology

The embryology laboratory is the heart of IVF. Our ART Level 2 facility runs to ICMR-compliant standards, HEPA-filtered air management, experienced clinical embryologists, and the technology stack required for ICSI, IMSI, time-lapse imaging, PGT and vitrification. The laboratory is engineered for embryo survival and developmental potential.

1. ART Level 2 classification

India ICMR-defined ART Level 2 facility — capable of all standard and advanced reproductive techniques including IVF, ICSI, IMSI, blastocyst culture, vitrification of oocytes and embryos, PGT-A biopsy, frozen embryo transfer. Engineered to ICMR ART Act 2021 and ART Rules 2022 compliance. (Note: ART Level 2 is a clean room classification used in operation theatres, not an ART facility designation — ART Level 2 is the correct standard.)

2. Air quality and HEPA filtration

Laboratory air HEPA-filtered with positive-pressure clean-room design. Volatile organic compound levels monitored. Temperature and humidity tightly controlled. Air quality directly affects embryo viability; engineering the environment is as important as the techniques performed within it.

3. Equipment

High-precision incubators with continuous gas monitoring. Vitrification workstation. ICSI/IMSI micromanipulation stations. PGT biopsy capability. Cryostorage tanks with continuous temperature monitoring and dual-power backup. Quality control instrumentation calibrated regularly.

4. Vitrification standard

Vitrification (ultra-rapid freezing) is the standard for embryo and oocyte freezing — replacing slow freezing globally since ~2010. Survival rates after thaw approach 95 percent for embryos and 90 percent for oocytes with proper technique. Vitrification is non-negotiable for modern IVF.

5. Embryologist team

Experienced clinical embryologists with documented qualifications, ongoing training and regular external audit. Embryology is a discipline of patience, precision and consistency — embryologist experience materially affects fertilisation rates, embryo development and live birth outcomes. Team continuity is engineered through retention and training investment.

6. Quality control and audit

Daily quality control monitoring of incubators, gases, temperature and equipment. Witness systems for sample identification. External audit and accreditation where applicable. Failure modes anticipated and prevented through engineered redundancy rather than reactive correction.

7. ICMR ART Act compliance

Indian regulatory compliance is mandatory and rigorous. ICMR ART Act 2021 and ART Rules 2022 set standards for facility, personnel, documentation, consent, donor protocols, and surrogacy. Our laboratory operates within this framework with full documentation.

8. Patient transparency

Patients can request to see the laboratory on consultation visits where operations allow. Embryologist available to answer technical questions. Daily embryology updates provided during active cycles. The laboratory is a technical heart of the programme, not a closed black box.
