Delivery options — and an honest approach to birth

Most pregnancies can end in a safe vaginal birth, and that is what we plan for whenever it is appropriate. Our approach is straightforward: support normal birth where it is safe, and intervene only when there is a clear medical reason. We provide painless labour (epidural analgesia) for women who want it, assisted vaginal birth where indicated, and caesarean section when it is genuinely the safer choice for mother or baby — not as a default. Where there has been a previous caesarean, we discuss VBAC (vaginal birth after caesarean) honestly, based on your individual history. You are always told why a particular route is being recommended.

Your antenatal care, visit by visit

Maternity care at Balaji Horizon is consultant-led from the first visit to the final review. A typical programme includes scheduled antenatal consultations, essential blood and screening tests, and a clear schedule of ultrasound scans — the dating scan, the NT scan, the detailed anomaly (TIFFA) scan, and growth and Doppler scans later in pregnancy — performed on-site by our own fetal-medicine team. Because imaging and obstetric care sit under one roof, findings are acted on quickly rather than referred out. Nutrition, vaccination and wellbeing are part of every plan.

When a pregnancy needs extra care

Some pregnancies carry added risk — because of age, a previous loss, twins, diabetes, high blood pressure, a scarred uterus, or a finding on a scan. These are managed within our dedicated high-risk pregnancy programme, with closer monitoring, advanced ultrasound and a clear plan for delivery. Where a newborn may need extra support, we are honest in advance about neonatal and NICU arrangements so that nothing is a surprise on the day.
